NETWORKED EVENT THEATRE * This is my father On stage, Ilay den Boer awaits the audience, ball under his arm. He is joined by his father, who distributes a booklet containing his biography in a few dates, preceded by a warning: “you hold my father’s life in your hands”. Ilay is Jewish by his Israeli mother, and though his father spent years travelling between Amsterdam and Tel-Aviv, Ilay grew up in the Netherlands and played national-league football before changing directions. From one play to another, director Ilay den Boer tries to name the unspeakable of war, to tell the complexity of Jewish history, and to clarify his own relationship with this identity today. In this way, he questions himself, as he does the audience, on each person’s responsibility. A father-son confrontation that highlights the increasing anti-Semitism and intolerance in our European cities, this multilingual play treats a highly sensitive subject with great finesse and lightness! In French, English and Dutch. More info on: www.sensinterdits.org |
