JOACHIM LATARJET & ALEXANDRA FLEISCHER
CIE OH ! OUI...
First production / Theatre
25, 26, 27 and 28 MARCH 2010
Schedule: TBC
If I ask you to sing me a song, which one will you be picking? What does the song, humble and everyday-like, tell us about each person’s story? It all started during the Ça Tchatche#2! Week_End, when the company Oh! Oui... was commissioned by Les Subsistances to work with people of various origins on the songs that shaped their lives. This is how, in April 2009, and with the help of amateurs, the first chapter of My Way was born. Then, Joachim Latarjet and Alexandra Fleischer felt like pursuing this adventure, and going further into the stories and the music. So here comes My Way 2, a fully fledged musical focusing on songs, words, memories and exile.

How did this project, My Way 2, come about?
Joachim Latarjet : This My way was born out of our previous work with the people of La Guillotière area last season. From a trivial perspective, the song, we were talking about exile, the circulation of people, the desire to be here. This idea of the travelling language has been part of our work for a long time, actually Stille Nacht, a show we created at Les Subsistances, already dealt with the topic. Personally, I am the son of a Greek woman who flew her country, so it is very close to me. Basically, we wanted to use this material that was very close to these people’s hearts, an almost sociological venture, to take the show towards the journey, the wandering and the exile. We wanted to talk about the necessity to leave while using the triviality of the song. There will be four actors and two musicians on stage, in a very musical show which will use all the subterfuges of song, lip-synching, karaoke… in order to create a flow of collected speech and take it further.
